Leftover fabric – Blue love

By Youanna

Hi again friends,

Did I not tell you yesterday that I was very active on the sewing machine but not so much online? Here is another proof of that: a new long sleeve winter top, made from some leftover Ponte di Roma knit. If you remember from my previous post, I mentioned that I love the tunic, and I was already making that pattern using some other colours, more exactly blue. After I cut the fabric for the blue tunic, there was leftover fabric to use, so I grabbed a simple T pattern from one of my Ottobre magazines, cut the fabric, and I started sewing both tops together. Miss Sporty Seamstress is sewing two projects at a time! :)  But only one of them got finished first, as life gets in the way all the time.

Notice on the last picture I have also knitted a new cotton ribbon scarf, a blue one! I must have got “the blues” or something…

Here is a picture showing how I made the sleeve out of two pieces of fabric. I had to improvise a bit for a full long sleeve, using only scraps from my other project: a blue “bat wing” tunic.

Adding extra fabric to the sleeve, and topstitching on each side.

Front side, bottom hem was not finished yet.

Side view, and clever use of leftover fabric.

Back view of the top.

Happy sewing,

Wow, I love this fabric (and top)! And how smart of you to reuse every scrap!
