This post is all about how I repurposed a t-shirt giving it a new life, a totally new meaning. The reason I was given this opportunity was because the seams in the original construction of the T were poorly made and were scratching the skin when hubby was working out. Last week he told me that he had enough of this T and handed it to me to play with it creatively.
I decided to make new panties for myself. This was not really a difficult project, as I have sewn panties before. Below is this whole story in pictures:
Cutting the t-shirt on the back center seam, in order to work with one big piece of fabric
Deciding elastic colours
Pattern layout for panty #1
Using the sleeve to make panty lining (for panty #2)
Small adjustments for perfect seam matching
Basting the lining in place – so both sides will be encased in the fold-over-elastic (FOE)
2nd step – coverstitch the other half of FOE, over the zig-zag stitching
Coverstitch close-up from right side of fabric
Finished panty – project successful!
